Abstract
The effect of fluorine (F) addition on the phase formation and superconduct ing properties of Re-doped HgBa2Ca2Cu3Oy (HgRe1223) was investigated. Resul ts of x-ray diffraction and microstructural investigations showed the forma tion of phase pure HgRe1223 with large grains in F doped composition. Magne tization measurements showed that the critical current density increased si gnificantly by fluorination. Results of the studies on the effect of F cont ent showed that there exists an optimum F content above which the propertie s start deteriorating.
