New superconducting cuprates in the Ca-doped Pr-123 system, have been synth
esized successfully under high pressure. The compounds crystallize with tet
ragonal structure. Electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility measu
rements indicate superconductivity with transition temperatures as high as
115K. This indicates that carrier-doping and an appropriate synthesis route
can effectively induce superconductivity in the Pr-123 system.
