Abstract
We consider the flow within a rotating horizontal cylinder containing a sma ll amount of a very viscous liquid which completely coats the cylinder surf ace. We show that, under creeping flow conditions, the addition of the hydr ostatic pressure term to the standard lubrication equation leads to film th ickness profiles which, over a broad range of parameters, are in close agre ement with those obtained experimentally, as well as via the solution to th e full Stokes equations.
