Vm. Novakovskii et La. Sokolova, The effect of potential on the calculated exchange current of an active iron electrode, PROT MET R, 36(6), 2000, pp. 520-523
It is shown that if the slopes of semilogarithmic straight lines of the act
ive anodic dissolution (or cathodic deposition) of a metal depend on the ra
te or direction of recording, then writing them in Tafel's form with the va
riable a and b constants is an electrochemical nonsense, because the seemin
g changes of b conceal undeciphered changes in the imaginary a constant, wh
ich is typically the obvious actual function of the potential that bears th
e main information on the peculiarities of the process.
