Aim. To investigate changes in the levels of acute phase proteins (APP) in
the serum of patients, vith acute and chronic viral hepatitis of various eti
ology.
Material and methods. APP (prealbumin albumin, transferrin, haptoglobin) we
re measured by automatic kinetic analyzer JCS II TM (Beckman) in 92 patient
s with acute and 61 patients with chronic viral hepatitis. Synthesis of alb
umin, prealbumin was depressed of haptoglobin increased in patients with ac
ute viral hepatitis irrespective of etiology at the height of intoxication.
In chronic viral diseases APP content depended on the disease etiology. In
chronic hepatitis C, B+C and D albumin, haptoglobin and transferrin were l
ow in clinical exacerbation while in patients with chronic hepatitis B a fa
ll in albumin, prealbumin and transferrin is accompanied with high haptoglo
bin.
Conclusion. A complicated multidirectional changes in APP in patients with
acute or chronic hepatitis serve, on the one hand an integral diagnostic in
dication of hepatic function in conditions of systemic endotoxemia. On the
other hand endotoxemia is caused by lipopolysaccharides of gram-negative ba
cterin entering blood flow in great amounts in morphofunctional hepatic dis
orders caused by viral hepatitis of different etiology.
