Abstract
This paper studies an Umayyad Andalusi foundation inscription, dated 387/4 January 997-2 January 998, which is no longer extant but has been transmitt ed in a summary in Castilian on a tablet dated 1259 and repaired in 1575. A n attempt is made to deduce the original Arabic text, and the documented fa cts and persons are discussed.
