Abstract
Survival after severe intrauterine myocardial infarction has not been repor ted previously. We describe the course of a neonate with a structurally nor mal heart, who presented with cardiogenic shock at birth due to intrauterin e myocardial infarction with a huge ventricular aneurysm. Myocardial perfus ion was assessed noninvasively by means of Tc-99m-Sestamibi, a radiopharmac eutical agent recently introduced in nuclear cardiology to avoid repeated c oronary angiography. The patient survived with improved cardiac function an d normal neurodevelopmental outcome.
