Abstract
Changes in absorbance of the thiocyanate ion (SCN-) at lambda = 220 nm, mea sured in concentrated aqueous perchloric acid solution, were analyzed using a titration curve expression containing the X-o excess acidity function; t his provided the acidity constant K-a = 19.2 +/- 1.1 M, pK(a) = -1.28 +/- 0 .03, for isothiocyanic acid (SCNH).
