Abstract
The aim of this pilot study was to determine the potential of maintenance w ith clobazam in patients on methadone who were also benzodiazepine dependen t. Five individuals were recruited and four were maintained on clobazam for a minimum of 3 months prior to reduction. Three subjects were abstinent fr om other benzodiazepines at 3 months. Clobazam was given as a single daily dose and was reported by the clients as less sedating than diazepam. There is potential for clobazam to be used as a maintenance benzodiazepine.
