Abstract
The results of investigations on corona charged thin mesogenic films consis ting of solid mixtures of achiral liquid crystalline side-chain polymers an d their monomers are presented. A pyroelectric modulation and a low frequen cy piezoelectric technique were used to confirm the polar properties of the se compounds. The pyroelectric coefficient gamma and the apparent longitudi nal piezoelectric coefficient d(33) Were measured in the glassy state to be 3.2 nC/cm(2) K and 9 pC/N. The pyroelectric currents versus modulation fre quency for various polar materials were studied for comparison.
