Mh. Nasser et Dm. Amin, SERUM-PROTEIN PATTERNS IN THEILERIA-INFECTED AND BABESIA-INFECTED COWS, Wiener Tierarztliche Monatschrift, 84(6), 1997, pp. 171-173
The present investigation was carried out on 10 and 6 lactating cows p
roved to be infected with Theileria annulata acid Babesia bigemina, re
spectively, by parasitological examination. Clinical signs observed on
these diseased cases were recorded and discussed. Serum samples were
analysed for total proteins and protein electrophoretic pattern. Serum
total proteins showed a significant drop in B. bigemina infected cows
as compared with apparently healthy ones. Hypoalbuminemia and hyperga
mmaglobulinemia as well as a decreased albumin/globulin ratio were obs
erved in both Theileria- and Babesia-infected cows.
