Neutronics and activation calculations have been performed for a Li2O parti
culate blanket concept without structural first wall. The concept has the p
otential for achieving tritium self-sufficiency with a lifetime structure a
nd reweldable vacuum vessel. It has attractive safety features resulting fr
om the significant reduction in radioactivity and decay heat generation in
