Krieshok (1998) reviewed the empirical literature and concluded with ten th
ings the field knows for sure about career decision-making, as well as ten
things we assume we know but which the literature suggests need reconsidera
tion, This article summarizes those findings in light of their implications
for career center practice, including less emphasis on becoming decided, m
ore emphasis on acting as one's own agent, and the importance of addressing
clients' resistance to engaging in anything more than simple short-term in
terventions.
