Abstract
Community psychology branched from the discipline and field of psychology i n the mid-1960's with development of a divergent world view and a variety o f different themes. These new themes appear to be similar to themes present in indigenous cultures, and a comparison is made with the culture of the M aori of New Zealand or Aotearoa. The parallels draw attention to the prevai ling divergent views that persist between psychology and community psycholo gy. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
