Ma. Moron, Twelve new species of Phyllophaga subgenus Phytalus (Coleoptera : Melolonthidae) from eastern and southern Mexico, J KAN ENT S, 73(1), 2000, pp. 36-61
New species of Phyllophaga (Phytalus) are described from 28 Mexican localit
ies as follows: P. soctona n. sp., P. yaxbitana n. sp., P. lineatoides n. s
p. and P. itsmica n. sp. from northern and southeastern mountains of Chiapa
s; P. juquilana n. sp., P. lulaana n. sp., P. tejupana n. sp., P. solavegan
a n. sp. and P. benexonana n. sp. from northern and southern mountains of O
axaca; P. pameana n. sp. and P. tlanchinolensis n. sp. from the mountains o
f San Luis Potosi and Hidalgo, and P. tajimaroana n. sp. from eastern mount
ains of Michoacan. Most of these species are living in pine-oak forests loc
ated between 1345 and 3160 m of altitude, but a few were collected in cloud
forest (1470-1550 m) or deciduous tropical forests located at 700-900 m. D

lypeus are provided.
