Abstract
The origin of the sedimentary filling of the Graupensandrinne (South German Molasse-Basin) has recently become focus of a scientific discussion. BUCHN ER (1998) postulates a fluvial genesis whereas REICHENBACHER et al. (1998) assume an estuary. A detailed sedimentological facies analysis done at seve ral outcrops reveals evidences for tidal influence. A reconstruction of the 3-D bedforms was attempted using GPR (Ground-Penetr ating Radar). This reveals a structural inventory characteristic for tidal sand-waves.
