Abstract
UltraCision((R)) is an instrument far cutting and coagulating tissue establ ished in general surgery but not in lung surgery. A prospective study was d one to prove the usefulness of UltraCision((R)) in lung parenchyma resectio n. Within 30 month 24 patients underwent wedge resection of 41 lung metasta ses using HS-2-blade or Laparosonic Coagulating Shear (LCS). II was documen ted the impermeability of resection area, number of sutures stopping air le akages or bleeding, histology of cutting edge, complications and follow up. The primarily airtightness and absence of bleeding was 76 % and after sutu ring or clipping resection area with an average of 3.6 clips or sutures 100 %. There were no complications relating to use of UltraCision((R)) includin g no prolonged air leakage. We conclude, that the method is indicated in lu ng surgery too. Especially in deeply located lesions UltraCision((R)) is ve ry helpful for parenchyma saving wedge re section of lung.
