Antisense basic fibroblast growth factor oligonucleotide reduced adhesion of retinal pigment epithelial cells to extracellular matrix molecules and their proliferation
Sh. Rho et al., Antisense basic fibroblast growth factor oligonucleotide reduced adhesion of retinal pigment epithelial cells to extracellular matrix molecules and their proliferation, OPHTHAL RES, 33(1), 2001, pp. 24-30
We investigated the effect of extracellular matrix molecules on the adhesio
n of retinal pigment epithelial cells and their subsequent proliferation. F
ibronectin, collagen type I and vitronectin enhanced their adhesion and pro
liferation. In addition, the effect of basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF
) on their adhesion and proliferation was studied. bFGF enhanced their adhe
sion and proliferation, whereas antisense bFGF reduced their adhesion to an
d their proliferation on extracellular matrix molecules. Copyright (C) 2001
