Abstract
Using EPR, high-valent Mn-IV complexes have been detected in Mukaiyama's ca talytic system, Mn-III(Salen)/Isobutyraldehyde/O-2, and shown to form also in the model system Mn-III(Salen)/Peroxyisobutyric acid. Their possible rol e in alkene epoxidation is discussed.
