A schematic organization of knowledge concerning emotions and its growth in
ontogenesis is looked at. A model describing the structure and growth of e
motion cognitive scheme is suggested. A technique to investigate children's
abilities to understand conflicting information as to emotion causes and i
ts outer expression has been worked out. The technique applied to children
aged 4 through 5 allows to single out four levels of emotions cognitive sch
emes growth as well as to formulate the criteria to discern them. Means med
by children to remote the controversy in information on emotions have been
described. The way the growth level of emotions scheme depends upon the ag
e and the diecolazh presence in the field has been shown. Other factors aff
ecting the growth of emotions schemes have been failed to find out, though.
