Au/MeOx (Me = Al, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Zn) catalysts were prepared by a
co precipitation method,and their catalytic performance for CO oxidation at
ambient temperature and humidity was investigated. It was found that the a
ctivity and stability of Au/MeOx were strongly dependent on the type of met
al oxide support. Among the samples tested, the Au - based catalysts suppor
ted on the oxides of Zn, Fe, Co, Ni and Al showed high activity, i. e. they
can oxidize CO to CO2 completely at the given reaction condition. It was a
lso found that these catalysts had excellent stability, the stability seque
nce was Au/ZnO > Au/alpha - Fe2O3 > Au/Co3O4 > Au/gamma - Al2O3 approximate
to Au/NiO. The effect of water vapor on the activity and stability were al
so studied, and a positive effect for Au/ZnO and negative effects for Au/Mn
Ox were observed.
