In this paper, chemical environment of Fe/0.5 mol . dm(-3) H2SO4 system was
designed according to the potentiostatic current oscillations mechanism ba
sed on the temporal formation of Fe(OH)(2) and Fe3O4 films. The formation o
f Fe(OH)2 and Fe3O4 films were promoted or inhibited through changing the p
H and Fe2+ concentration in the interface of Fe/electrolyte. Thus the envir
onment was created in that the current oscillations were observed. The resu
lts provide support to the potentiostatic current oscillations mechanism of
Fe/0.5 mol dm(-3) H2SO4 system based on the temporal formation of Fe(OH)2
and Fe3O4 films.
