Abstract
Jay is a cultivar of orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) developed by the Department of Plant Agriculture, University of Guelph. The nine parents of Jay were selected for general vigour, late maturity, plant height at headin g, and aftermath vigour. It is similar in herbage yield and plant height bu t slightly later maturing than the cultivar Kay. Jay is suited for situatio ns where a late-maturing orchardgrass is desired.
