Vv. Nikonov et Nv. Lukina, Spatial and seasonal variability of the nutritive regime of Al-Fe-humus podzols in boreal forests, EURAS SOIL, 33(12), 2000, pp. 1309-1316
The nutritive regime of soil under boreal forests is studied on the example
of Al-Fe-humus podzols. The spatial heterogeneity and seasonal variability
of available nutrients are examined. The factors of spatial heterogeneity
of the nutritive regime are specified and the role of stands is estimated.
The upper organic horizon (forest litter) of the investigated podzols under
boreal forests accumulates considerable amounts of nutrients. The developm
ent of this horizon is considered as an adaptation of boreal forest ecosyst
ems to the nutrient-deficient environment.
