Abstract
Queguay sedimentary limestones (Paysandu Dpt) are a very successfull portla nd cement raw material because its low Mg++ content, but high silica percen tage is an important handicap. Silica level is so high that one millon USA dollar imported bauxite must be added in order to obtain adequate SiO2/ Al2 O3 rates. Geological knowledge about kaolinic clays at Blanquillos (Durazno Dpt) suggested the study of this significant area of research for portland cement formulation. A 85% limestone -15% kaolinic clay is a good raw mix f or clinker manufacture. Feasibility study of this suggested technique is co nsidered of priority because it may be a significant development socio-econ omic agent.
