Jo. Morales et al., Distribution of the ABO system in the Argentine northwest: Miscegenation and genetic diversity, INTERCIENCI, 25(9), 2000, pp. 432-435
Based on the ABO system phenotypes of 95,562 individuals from the six pi-ev
inces that constitute the Argentine northwest (Jujuy, Salta, Tucuman, Catam
arca, La Rioja, and Santiago del Estero), allele frequency, heterozygosis,
and genetic admixture, assuming three parental populations (American Indian
, Spanish, and Black) was estimated. Although no significant interpopulatio
n differences of allele frequencies were detected, their geographical distr
ibution agreed with other sources of biological information and with ethnoh
istorical and census data on this region's settlement.
