Jp. Vella et Mh. Sayegh, MAINTENANCE PHARMACOLOGICAL IMMUNOSUPPRESSIVE STRATEGIES IN RENAL-TRANSPLANTATION, Postgraduate medical journal, 73(861), 1997, pp. 386-390
Current maintenance immunosuppressive regimens for transplantation are
based on three classes of drugs: corticosteroids, immunophilin-bindin
g agents (eg, cyclosporin and tacrolimus), and antimetabolites (eg, az
athioprine and mycophenolate). Drugs from the various classes inhibit
the immune system at different points and are thus synergistic when us
ed in combination.
