Abstract
This paper proposes a design for eyepieces and magnifiers based on the use of sinterform lenses with wavelike correction surfaces. Ophthalmologic magn ifiers have been developed and fabricated with one and two power-correcting surfaces, with focal lengths of 20.5 and 18.9 mm, exit pupils of 19 and 16 mm, angular fields of 2 omega = 55 degrees and 62.5 degrees, and a resolvi ng power of 100 lines/mm. Designs of eyepieces made from two basic lenses h ave been considered. It is shown that using a wavelike surface makes it pos sible to create eyepieces with low astigmatism and low image curvature, as well as with inversion of the curves of the sagittal and meridional compone nts of the astigmatism.
