Effect of the slurry depth on slurry hydraulic pressure and cake growth rat
e during slip casting was examined for zirconia aqueous slurry of 50-75 mas
s% solid. Buoyancy, which acted on three sorts of stainless steel sinkers i
n the zirconia slurries, was measured. Buoyancy in slurry increased linearl
y with the slurry density and the volume of the sinker. Buoyancy is generat
ed by the slurry hydraulic pressure distribution. It is found that slurry h
ydraulic pressure increases proportionally to the slurry depth. The cake gr
owth rate became higher at a higher head of the slurry.
