Cationic polyelectrolytes and polymeric betaines with narrow molecular weig
ht distribution as well as block copolymers containing charged and uncharge
d blocks of different hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity were synthesized by dif
ferent routes of radical polymerization. The cationic polyelectrolytes were
characterized with respect to solution properties and electrolyte behaviou
r. The block copolymers serve as powerful stabilizers in precipitation and
emulsion polymerization processes.
