Abstract
The band-gap renormalization (BGR) of a photo-excited quantum-well wire (QW W) in the presence of an external electric field was studied within the lea ding-order screening approximation. We have included the following contribu tions to the BGR: quantum-confined Stark-, Hartree-, exchange- and correlat ion contributions. Our numerical results for GaAs QWW showed besides a larg e difference between the BGR also interesting discrepancy between excitonic absorption spectra in the screening approximation and in the Hartree-Fock approximation.
