Abstract
A new way of synthesis was developed for racemic 8-nonene-2,4-diol, the acy clic precursor of 1,3-dimethyl-1,9-dioxabicyclo[3.1.1]nonane. The latter su bstance was isolated from the bark of an ordinary spruce affected with a pe st Trypodendron Lineatum Oliv.
