Abstract
A finite-volume model has been developed and applied to compute the fluid f low distribution inside the liquid zone in a mould region of a continuous s trip casting machine. The model was produced with the commercial program CF X, which allows this nonlinear, highly turbulent problem to be simulated us ing the k-epsilon turbulence model. The predicted flow patterns were compar ed with experimental observations and measurements conducted using a transp arent plastic water model.
