Limb apraxia is an impairment in the ability to perform skilled, purposive
limb movements as the result of neurological dysfunction. In right-handed i
ndividuals, limb apraxia is associated with left hemisphere lesions. This a
rticle reviews the subtypes and neuroanatomic correlates of limb apraxia, i
ncluding limb kinetic apraxia, ideomotor apraxia, ideational apraxia, and c
onceptual apraxia. The functional impact of limb apraxia on the individual
is discussed. Strategies for the assessment and management of this disorder
are reviewed.
