Abstract
A synthesis of planar chiral cationic eta (3)-allyl molybdenum complexes fr om chiral allylic benzoates benefits from the high reactivity and stereosel ectivity of the initial oxidative addition step using cis-Mo(CO)(4)(Py)(2) X-ray crystallographic evidence for the stereochemistry and mechanism of th e oxidative addition step is presented.
