Abstract
The effect of the administration of the mycotoxins OTA, ZEA and DON either alone or in combination on the health and residue levels of pigs, 50-60 kg live weight, over 90 days was investigated in four separate studies. Becaus e of the rapid metabolism, the administration of 1000 mug DON and 250 mug Z EA per kg feed, either alone or in combination with other mycotoxins, did n or lead to detectable residues in tissues and organs, These mycotoxins do n ot therefore represent a risk to the consumer: There was an effect of the s imultaneous administration of ZEA and DON on the metabolism and secretion o f OTA, OTA is relevant to residue toxicology.
