Hk. Steensma et Kg. Corley, On the performance of technology-sourcing partnerships: The interaction between partner interdependence and technology attributes, ACAD MGMT J, 43(6), 2000, pp. 1045-1067
This study examines the outcomes of technology-sourcing partnerships from t
he sourcing firms' point of view. Using a knowledge-based perspective, we d
evelop a contingency model suggesting how the imitability, uniqueness, and
uncertainty associated with a technology interact with partner interdepende
nce to influence sourcing outcomes. Ninety-five sourcing arrangements spann
ing licensing, joint development, and acquisitions were examined close to t
he time of conception and three to four years afterward. Overall, the resul
ts support a contingency framework.
