In the atmosphere, many chemical processes are controlled by open-shell rad
ical species. While these species are present in relatively small number de
nsities, they initiate many of the cycles that control the chemistry of the
atmosphere. The purpose of this Account is to examine recent studies of ra
dical-water complexes that are composed of atmospherically important specie
s. We hope this Account will provide a report on the status of this topical
field, while encouraging new research directions.
