The effect of dietary formulation supplemented with 3% and 6% of herba
l mixture on the chemical composition of goose breast muscles was inve
stigated. 4 groups comprised 60 White Italian goose from WD-3 strain,
each sex were fed with following dietary formulation: 1 - the nutritiv
e feed (NF); 2 - NF with 3% herbal mixture; 3 - NF with 6% herbal mixt
ure; 4 - 200-250 g/day/bird of NF and the cut green feed ad libitum. T
he herbal mixture comprised the: milk thistle 26%, coriander 13%, savo
ry 20%, caraway seed - 28% and mint 13%. The 10% of birds were randoml
y selected from each group and sex for the investigations. The chemica
l composition covered the content of: proteins, fat, moisture, ash, ch
olesterol and amino acids. The non significant effect of the dietary f
ormulation on the examined chemical factors was stated. Taking into co
nsideration that those herbs have been the wastes from the Herbal Comp
any their utilization in feeding of geese should be recognized as usef
ul from the point of view considered in this experiment.
