Abstract
India is fast emerging as an important global player in the casting sector of metallurgical industry. This is mainly due to the stringent pollution co ntrol standards in the developed countries and the exponential growth in au tomobile and machine tool sectors within the country. There is also a growi ng awareness regarding pollution control levels in India in recent times an d this is perceived as a threat to the existence of these small-scale found ry units scattered in various parts of the country. Attempt has been made t o carry out research and development work on developing an eco-friendly cok eless cupola and also a gas cleaning plant for coke based cupola of Various modules/sizes ranging from 2 to 20 ton/ ha. This paper discusses the resul ts obtained from techno-economic analysis and pollution management of coke based dry gas cleaning plant, wet gas cleaning plant and cokeless cupola.
