The disposable diapers are materials with heterogeneous structure organized
by a fibrous cellulosic support and a reinforcement of a superabsorptive p
olymer (SAP) profile. In this study, we are interested to:
modes of use of these absorbent materials, specially scattering techniques
of SAP polymer in the absorbent core;
their physical and chemical properties such as absorption capacity or fluid
transport mechanisms.
In laboratory samples we led absorption, retention and wet-back tests with
a standard liquids (deionized water and physiological saline solution). The
analysis of results reveal absorption capacities of these biotextiles, the
improvement of their characteristics is conditioned by the superabsorptive
polymer. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
