NOD3, A NOVEL LATE NODULIN GENE FROM SOYBEAN IS EXPRESSED IN THE INFECTED-CELLS AND THE NODULE PARENCHYMA

A novel late nodulin gene, namely NOD3, was isolated from a soybean cD NA library. The expression of NOD3 was induced almost simultaneously w ith the onset of nitrogen fixation, together with leghaemoglobin. The temporal expression pattern of the gene was studied in developing soyb ean nodules, by in situ hybridization. NOD3 transcripts were localized in the infected cells of the nodule central tissue and the nodule par enchyma cells.
