Abstract
A high-yield one-step synthesis of the dinuclear (mu-oxo)bis[trichloro ferrate(III)] anion, [Fe2OCl6](2-), as [amH](2)[Fe2OCl6] or [pyH](2)[F e2OCl6], is reported consisting of treating anhydrous iron(III) chlori de with the stoicheiometric amount of FeCl3 . 6 H2O in toluene as medi um in the presence of a secondary amine (am) or pyridine (py), in a so lid-liquid system.
