The issue of the d-q dynamic modelling of the slip energy recovery drive is
addressed in this paper. Two original d-q dynamic models are presented, in
which the harmonies and commutation phenomena of the rotor converters are
neglected. The performance of these models, along with another one already
used in the literature, is evaluated through comparison with a detailed mod
el of the drive, involving the valve-by-valve representation of the convert
ers. one of the novel d-q models proves to be very satisfactory, achieving
good accuracy in all cases, while the other two present increased errors of
certain disturbances and operating conditions.
