Abstract
Bubble mediated processes such as gas transfer and bubble-burst aerosol pro duction have long been of geophysical interest. In contrast, the bubble gen eration by bubble bursting remains unquantified. Based on a series of labor atory experiments, evidence for bubble production by bursting bubbles is pr esented as well as the bubble distribution produced by this mechanism for s alt and fresh water.
