Abstract
Raman spectroscopy was used to compare the structural effects on single-wal led carbon nanotubes of pressures due to the cohesive energy of liquid medi a with the effects of an externally applied macroscopic pressure. Results w ere very similar, showing that the interpretation of the cohesive energy de nsity as an internal pressure is physically realistic.
