Abstract
A bacterial strain, Acaligenes odorans, has been isolated, by enrichment fr om soil, using lantadene A (LA), the pentacyclic triterpenoid from lantana plant, as the sole carbon source. The strain is Gram negative, motile, cata lase positive and is capable of utilizing LA. The utilization of LA was les s when glucose was used as cosubstrate. The isolate did not utilize lantade ne B, a congener of lantadene A. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
