Some sugar factories in many countries of the world are operating isolated
from the national electric system. When this happen, even in factories with
back pressure steam turbine technology, the owners loose some important ad
vantages of the operation in synchronism with the grid. Those advantages sh
ould not be forgotten in an environment of economic competition, energy dif
ficulties and price, social development and ecological impact of technology
.
This paper talks about those aspects and put as real example, a small sugar
factory in Cienfuegos' county and the balance of electric energy generatio
n in this geographical space of Cuba. Perhaps, the results can constitute a
n example not shown by any other region of sugar producers in the world wit
h low energy potential technology. The principles are also true for others
pressures and technologies.
