The characteristic x-ray spectrum of Mo vapour was investigated with the he
lp of a new electron-beam method. Drastic change in the shape of the L-beta
2,L-15 line emitted by vapour, in comparison with solid-stare emission, was
found. A theoretical analysis of the spectral profile was made using Hartr
ee-Fock calculations and revealed problems in the quantitative description
of the spectral line profile.
