Abstract
The side-chain of lipopolysaccharide from the cucumber pathogen, Pseudomona s syringae pv. lachrymans strain NCPPB 1096, contained L- and D-rhamnose. U sing Smith degradation and H-1 and C-13 nuclear magnetic resonance spectros copy, the repeat unit was found to have the structure: 3)-alpha -D-Rhap(1-->3)-beta -L-Rhap(1-->4)-alpha -L-Rhap(1--> The structure is correlated with a previously proposed serogrouping system.
